[ ARASSAS ]

Arassas is the French word for a Tatzelwurm.

A story that follows memoirs written by Quillion, mostly revolving around their lover Saber. Quillion is a Tatzelwurm and is kindred to The Broodmother, while Saber is kindred to The Broodfather. As beings of the moon and the sun they are both drawn together, despite trying to fight their natures at first. It is very much a story of love and discovery, two halves of a whole struggling with finding their own independence and meaning outside of their designated roles.

The two are psychopomps, guiding souls from the physical world to the afterlife. Saber is charged with brave souls who accept death gladly, while Quillion assists those who fear death and have tried to hide from it. Saber is fully immersed in the aspects of life and death, and despite once fighting her nature she now revels in it. Quillion, however, still has reservations and finds it difficult to fully accept their nature and role. They are the calm of the ocean and sea, while their counterpart burns brightly like fire. They are truly akin to their respective elements, one being the moon and the other being the sun.

Another portion of the story is dedicated to letters the two have exchanged to one another in times that they were separate. Exploring their feelings on each other, and the world and universe around them. No matter how they may part they always find each other again, and are relative to Cohe and Tip in this way. Saber actually fights Tip at a point in an attempt to stop it from slaying The Broodfather, and thus ending this universe. However, she ultimately empathizes and allows the other to go through with her plans. This leaves the two, as well as the rest of the Godkin now aimless and mortal and capable of True Death.

Quillion is reserved, and while they can fight they typically refuse to. They do not like violence nor death despite being connected to it. This is seen in Kulning, with the refusal to fight Catharsis. Meanwhile Saber is very motivated to fight and is often associated with The Hunt. The two are opposites in this way and thus compliment each other. Although it led to disagreements between the pair. Quillion is connected to the stars and the heavens while Saber is connected to the Earth and all that she embodies.

They have numerous forms, they are like their respective Gods in the way that they appear in such a way that people perceive them. Ultimately Quillion is a tatzelwurm while Saber is a Tarasque.

Quillion - Quillion is a tatzelwurm and Godkin that has spawned from The Broodmother. Being associated with the moon they are associated with darkness and the night. They are considered a psychopomp and are responsible for guiding lost souls to the afterlife, so that they may join the Soulstream and later be reincarnated. Has a very conflicting view of death and finds the whole aspect deeply depressing. Despite being immortal has a fear of death and experiencing the loss of memory. Is fairly creative and when in more conventional forms has taken to writing.

Has spent a lot of their days writing letters to their counterpart Saber, whose replies are irregular as she tends to vanish for several days (sometimes even weeks, and months). During this time they would guide the souls of heroes and brave souls in her place. Does not follow her stubborn spirit in fighting the will of the Universe, and settles into their given roles despite not particularly enjoying them. Despite their deep sensitivity they put on a brave face, sometimes attempting to act as strong as their partner. Is gentle and cares deeply about the souls that they lead to the soulstream, attempting to assure them all will be well and they will live on in another life and make new stories for themselves.

While usually found in a crystalized cave they have taken residence in, they can often be found in The Garden. A peaceful place where both they and Saber retire to, and have even met in. This place is a space that is even hidden away from the Gods, and it has allowed them to bond even more, despite their Source being rivals and being polar opposites. This is something they share with Cohe and Tip. Saber taught Gavri to be more brave (even if they loath fighting), while Gavri taught Saber to be more kind.

Saber - Saber is a tarasque who has spawned from The Broodfather. She is immersed in her role as both an aspect of nature and a psychopomp, she is charged with brave souls who have fallen. Due to her immense stubbornness, she spent a large part of her creation fighting her given role, trying to be something else. However, has come to terms with it, partially with the help of Quillion. Is loud and oftentimes playful but is very passionate about battling and will never turn down a challenge. Is not as creative as Quillion (who she calls "Quill") is, but despite this returns their letters albeit very irregularly.

Spends her day out in the Steppe, often hunting for prey or picking herbs to make medicine with. Is very intelligent and knows a lot about the world around her, but has a difficulty articulating it. This is seen in her sparse letters to Quillion. Will not back down from a fight and in fact enjoys it, sometimes seeking out fights and starting them herself. Her favorite weapon is in her original form, tooth and claw, but if she were to pick an item it would be a bow.

Has a tendency to go "radio silent," and disappear for an extended period of time. This has affected their counterpart in numerous ways, in loneliness and also having to take her place as a psychopomp. Travels not only Earth but many other worlds and the universe, but eventually comes to love the planet she's on and all of its intricacies, later immersing herself in them. Retires to The Garden frequently, the place where she met Quillion.

Learned to be more kind due to time spent with Quillion, just as much as how she taught them to be brave.
